Welcome to the opening day of the Write 31 Days Challenge for 2018 here at Tuning Hearts! I decided at the last minute to try and participate again this year. I hope that since I’m not using social media this month, I will be able to write a majority of the days this time around. Just as I did last year, I will be following the writing prompts from 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes, as well as following the usual 5-minute free write rules for those posts. Since we are encouraged to choose a theme to guide our…

I’ve had writers block lately. It isn’t that I didn’t want to write and post on the blog. I did. But also had a lot of fear surrounding my writing. I had begun to let the Dream-Stealer sneak into my head and whisper things about my worth. As a writer. As a mom. As a wife. As a child of God. But you know what? Those ideas were lies. I started thinking about the concept of seasons, both in the weather and in life. The wildflowers are blooming in the fields and woods. The birds are nesting and singing sweetly each morning. It is a hopeful time.…

I could go in so many different directions with this week’s “routine” prompt! (Which means I should probably think about doing some posts on related topics!) But I think I’ll stick with why I love rhythms and routines as a non-type A personality and as a mom of young children. I used to try to create a schedule with times to do specific things during my days. This never, ever, ever, ever worked for me! I could not stick to a schedule for more than one day, if I could even get through that first day at all! So I thought I…
