    My 2026 Make Nine

Since 2025 was my first time trying to plan my sewing and knitting according the “Make Nine” method, I didn’t accomplish quite as many projects from it as I might have liked. I don’t think I thought everything through very well. However, l did get a few of my goal projects completed, in addition to many items that were not on my Make Nine last year. This year, I aimed to plan only projects for which I already have either the pattern, the materials, or both. There are a couple of exceptions, of course, but I tried! My other goal…

On the Needles: Fall FOs Galore!

After an unintentional blogging hiatus, I am back with a whole lot of finished projects to share with you! I was so busy this fall, and most days I just didn’t feel like I had anything coherent to write. Apparently, all my creative energy was being directed into knitting, crocheting, and sewing instead. I know many knitters share that their craft helps keep them grounded in time of stress, and I think that held true for me in this season. On the Needles, July 2025

This week on the blog I have a little crafting update to share. As with my vacation reading, I did not get as much knitting done on our trip as I expected to, mostly because it was usually just too hot to want to pick up any yarn. But I have made a good bit of progress on something that I will share later on in this post. First, though, I wanted to start off with a finished sewing project that I just completed yesterday for my daughter! We are calling this the “Sunflower Dress”, and it is based on…

    On the Needles, June 2025

Welcome to my sewing and crafting update for June! I am pleased to start this post off strong reporting that another summer sewing project is in the books. And I got to check off another one of my planned “Make 9” pieces, too! This was a really quick skirt project, in spite of a few hiccups along the way, mainly because I had cut out the pieces for this pattern ages ago. McCall’s 5612 skirt pattern is a pretty basic A-line skirt with a waistband and back zip. Any issues I had with the pattern were all self-inflicted. First off,…

10 Spring and Summer Knits I Want to Make

Today I thought it would be fun to do something a little different and bring you a pattern round-up of ten knitting projects for spring and summer wearables that I would like to knit myself. As the weather has been warming up (although I am in a cardigan and shawl today because we have had a cold snap), I haven’t been as enthused about finishing my remaining winter WIPs. It’s hard to stay motivated about projects I know I won’t wear more than once before putting them away for next fall. So, my mind has been wandering to spring and…
