This post is part of Five Minute Fridays Link-Ups. Here is my post for this week’s prompt: Original
Time begins now….
According to the Cambridge Dictionary the word “original” means: “existing since the beginning, or being the earliest form of something; “. When I read that definition, I immediately thought of John 1:1-3.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:1-3 (NIV)
God is the Original Originator, the Creator of the created. He is the first, the self-existent One.
A second definition for “original” is this: “an original piece of work, such as a painting, etc. is produced by the artist and not a copy”.
In this way, we as humans are each also an original made by the hands of the greatest artist ever. We each have a unique personality, a soul and spirit that are individually ours and no-one else’s. We are also, as J.R.R. Tolkien put it, “sub-creators”, desiring to put our own unique stamp on something in life, to make an original work of art in our own lifetimes.
Being created in the image of God, we are copies, yes. But we are not merely rubber stamps of one certain kind of human. That is awesome to think about. Each of us was made with thought and intention by the Creator. Each of us has dignity and is loved by the One who formed us in the inner place.
If you are feeling down on yourself today, thinking you are “less than” or not valuable, take time to meditate on this Scripture and remember that you are an original made by THE Original One who cares about you more than you know. You are loved.
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.Psalm 139:13-18
End time…
Excellent reminder! ❤️ G
Looks like we were on a similar track this week.
(I used those verses as well.)
The earliest T-28,
the underpowered A,
was really just not all that great
but we bought it anyway
and it taught a lot of guys
behind its churning paddle-blades
that intro’d them unto the skies
behind their Ray-Ban shades.
Then came the Navy’s B and C,
truly worth a second look,
the B was land-based, had to be
for it did not have a hook,
and now you have, in sonnet form,
the greatest trainer ever born.
So beautifully spoken indeed.
